Access Control is the process of granting or denying specific requests for or attempts to:

  1. Obtain and use information and related information for processing services; and
  2. Entering a specific physical location or facility.

Access control is related to the security of a network, or the physical security of a facility; such as federal Buildings, military establishments, and border crossing entrances.
